How to buy a used car

Things to consider when buying a used car if buying from a website :
- Check carefully the advertisement
- Check if the car price is suspicious
- Check the name and the location of the sellers
                                                             
If in doubt about a second hand car do more research with State road authority /Transport department's vehicle security register to check :

1. Vehicle registration status 
2. If the vehicle was involve in an accident
3. If the vehicles finance recorded against the vehicle
4. If the vehicle is reported as stolen

Car battery checks

Car battery checks are :
- Visual check the battery for leak
- Check the acid level ( not always possible )
- Check that the connection are tight and the cable in good connection
- Check that there is no sulfate on the connection
- Check that the battery doesn't move on it.s support
- Check that the battery's case has no crack

A hydrometer can be used to test the specific gravity of each cell which give you an indication of the charge .

 
For the fonctional check you can use a load tester to see if the battery hold the charge and that the voltage is correct above 13.6 Volts.
