How to buy a used car

Things to consider when buying a used car if buying from a website :
- Check carefully the advertisement
- Check if the car price is suspicious
- Check the name and the location of the sellers

If in doubt about a second hand car do more research with State road authority /Transport department's vehicle security register to check :

  1. Vehicle registration status
  2. If the vehicle was involve in an accident
  3. If the vehicles finance recorded against the vehicle
  4. If the vehicle is reported as stolen
When you inspect a used car you have to check the following :

- Car log book , was the service done , was there any repair done .

- Check the wear on the tire , this can tell you if the car hit a speed bump or was potentially involve in an accident ! A wheel alignement can fix the front wheel but there is no adjustment for the back wheel .
- Check that all fluid level are correct

- Start the engine , check the dash board to see if some light are still on , for example if the engine light stayed on it could mean there is a problem with either the Engine Controle Unit or electrical harness .

- Check around the engine for Noise .

- Check that the electrical harness is properly attached around the engine compartment , if not the car as potentially had a major repair done .

- Check along the bottom side of the car to see if there is any damage on the body .

- Go for a drive and check any unusal behavior , on a flat check if the car is pulling on the side .

- Check if the engine is not overheating .
